NUP CAMPAIGN EVENTS

Political campaigning is a means by which a political party sells its ideologies and vision to electorates. It is determined prior to electorates making the biggest decision as to which of the parties to vote for or to be given power to govern over a certain period, determined by the constitution in every democratic regime. 

The National Union Party (NUP), after a successful outdooring of its presidential candidate and running mate, signaled a moment of full scale campaign. As a group, we believe that, campaign has now become candidate centered. The focus is more on selling the qualities, credibility and track record of the individual. This was an institutional condition which was met by the vetting committee of the party.  

As a group we helped the party to capitalize on endorsements from renowned personalities in society. Pro-vice chancellor of University of Education, Winneba, Prof. Andy Ofori-Birikorang endorsed the policies of NUP, indicating that “NUP represents motherhood, femineity, fertility and growth.” In the run up to this year’s elections, we undertook;

Manifesto launch

A manifesto refers the policy document of a political party which is presented to electorates in an attempt to win their votes. Manifesto is not prepared in vacuum. Political parties, based on their ideologies come up with the right document for citizens to make an inform decision.

The National Union Party which is a social liberal party believes that there should be some level of mutual collaboration between institutions. It as well envisage an equal opportunity for all. The manifesto of the NUP seeks to tackle some key social issues such as health, economy, education, among others. The manifesto gives opportunity for potential voters to know the party’s policies and the intention they have for them when they are voted into power.

In the era of COVID-19, we planned to stream the event live via the party’s Facebook page. Few members clad in party T-shirt were at the party’s headquarters at GIJ Campus, Ringway Osu, for the event. Covid-19 protocols were observed. It was successful.

At the manifesto launch, the flagbearer, Charity Kessewa Frimpong explained that the party thought up the Child care insurance policy and the Students Trust Fund because they have the next generation at heart. For her, real change and development should not only be enjoyed during her term of office but the benefits of her innovative policies should be felt decades into the future.

At the manifesto launch of, Elvis Osei Owusu, the party's Communications Director and a member of this group, encouraged members of the party to be focused on making the party's message policies known, and not be distracted by the verbal attacks of other parties. 

He emphasized that the NUP is committed to fostering real unity, thus distractions a controversies should not be allowed within. Mr. Owusu explained the essence of the "3b3famo" slogan which means "it will surprise you". He ended his speech by encouraging the NUP to surprise everyone with their unity as it is indeed, our strength.

Health/Campaign Walk

NUP on 12^th March, 2021, held it’s maiden health walk dubbed “Campaign walk”. This activity was led by the presidential candidate and running mate with a number of party supporters and executive. The exercise which commenced at the party headquarters, ended at the Independence square.

Due to Covid-19, few members were allowed to join the walk. As part of the planning, we provided members with branded nose mask. We advised members to ensure social distance, at least two meters apart.

As a team, we ensured that all our content are shared on our virtual platforms. We worked to have remarkable representation on social media, that is, Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. We set up a social media team within our group to undertake this activity. The party is proud of the work done so far.

Motto: Unity Is Strength!

Young poet Mattie Stepanek once said, “Unity is strength... when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved. ”From the dawn of humanity, we can find the evidence that strength lies in the numbers and without our inseparable belief in, “Unity is strength”. 

Moreover, we have always been stronger hunters and knowledgeable shares when united. Besides, the proverb “Unity is strength” is more than just that. Because our history is filled with incidents where we have achieved things that we weren’t able to achieve individually. Also, to stand up against anything we need strength which comes with unity. Unity is strength and wonderful things are achieved!
